Photovoltaic Farms

Solar Farms – A New Opportunity for Investors

Large photovoltaic installations with a capacity exceeding 50 kWp are commonly referred to as photovoltaic farms. Their main purpose is the production and distribution of generated energy to the power grid. The extensive size and arrangement of the panels mean that a photovoltaic panel farm is placed on the ground.

Investment in Photovoltaic Farms

For investors who do not own the land required for photovoltaic farms, the most advantageous solution is the possibility of leasing land from agricultural landowners. This type of agreement gives the farmer the opportunity to obtain certain, stable income from land for which the investment in development would not be proportional to the profits.

Building a photovoltaic farm is an excellent way to use land that does not generate satisfactory profits. A plot for photovoltaics must meet several requirements:

  • minimum area starting from 1.5 ha,
  • close proximity, up to 200 meters, to the medium voltage grid,
  • flat terrain, without shading, tall trees, or buildings that limit sunlight access,
  • a plot with soil class IV, IVa, IVb, or lower – possibility to use fallow agricultural land,
  • located away from flood-prone areas,
  • the plot cannot be located in a landscape park or Natura 2000 area,
  • no local zoning plan or an entry allowing photovoltaic development.
